Peninsula Champagne Breakfast and Helicopter Ride

This is the ultimate lesson to never get behind on email: scrolling through and filing months-old messages one day, I found an invitation from the Peninsula (Salisbury Rd., Tsim Sha Tsui, 2315-3146) to join them on a glorious Sky High Champagne breakfast and helicopter ride—for the week before. D’oh! Well, the guys who did make it out told me it was a fantastic experience, and I’ll just have to take their word for it.

Here’s the deal: from now until June 24, on every Sunday and public holiday (except for a few blackout dates), one can sample an elegant breakfast at the Pen’s aviation-themed China Clipper lounge before being taken for a spin on an Aerospatiale twin-engine Squirrel AS355N (that’s aviation lingo for one rockin’ ride), launching straight from the hotel’s rooftop helipads.

The flight will be eight minutes long and you’ll get to see Hong Kong’s famous skyline and get as far as Happy Valley and North Point. At $1,388 per person, which includes a glass of champagne, I’d say it’s a pretty sweet deal—not to mention a great way to impress a date! Booking ahead is a must.
