1. Bookshop Café adjoining Broadway Cinematheque (Yau Ma Tei). “Love the open concept and snack bar. There’s somehow a flow in the space and I just enjoy my cuppa even more surrounded by the awesome art books available. Definitely my little haven in Hong Kong.”

2. Isola Bar & Grill (3/F, IFC Tower 2, units 3071-3075, 2383-8765). “Great for inspiration, an all-in-one spot for indoor or outdoor dining, plus a lounge area for after-drinks and dessert. It’s one of my favourites to relieve that pizza craving too.”

3. Bunch Café (70 Peel St., Central, 2526-8861). “This place looks very similar to one of the cafes I frequented in Sydney - I felt a sense of home the first time I walked by. There are racks of the latest magazines for both sexes, and there’s an appetizing menu and homemade desserts to go with an afternoon of undisturbed reading.”

4. La Terrasse (G/F, 19 Old Bailey St., Central, 2147-2225). “This place has been a great comfort zone for me. Cosy atmosphere, always someone interesting at the bar to talk to, and regulars who come in to play a few piano tunes.”

5. The Peak Lookout (The Peak, 121 Peak Rd., 2849-1000). “It’s hard to beat the stunning views you get here on a clear day while writing. A well-balanced menu with crossover varieties of European cuisine and good Asian choices, it’s also a must-try for all oyster lovers.”
