Jasmine at Citygate – there are other branches in Hong Kong, but this restaurant has a new menu with dishes only available here.

Jasmine at Citygate Outlets, offers innovative Cantonese cuisine in an interior reminiscent of a garden setting with natural light from double-height floor-to-ceiling windows, lots of floral arrangements and bamboo rods descending from the ceiling. There are other branches of Jasmine in Hong Kong, but this restaurant has a new menu with dishes that are only available at this branch.

We enjoy the chilled squid in spicy sauce appetiser (HK$138). The squid is served whole and is tender and light, and has a spicy kick. The fried Canadian lobster in fried milk (HK$198) is a favourite Shunde dish known for its delicate taste, which contrasts with the umami taste of the lobster. It does not disappoint.

Another favourite is the poached rice and rock rice in lobster soup (HK$148), served in a sizzling hotpot. We like this aromatic flavourful dish. Another must-try dish is the succulent Kurobuta pork belly topped with rich truffle sauce and flambéed with rose liquor tableside (HK$198).

To end, we have the fried diced cauliflower with barbecued pork and shrimp eggs (HK$108). It is a low-carb, low cholesterol alternative to fried rice for the health conscious, and tastes equally good.

The restaurant is also known for its dim sum, highlights of which includes deep-fried pumpkin dumplings, corn water chestnut and barbecued Iberico pork puff, which are all lighter than the classic dim sum.
