The singer-songwriting duo of Lee Chan-hyuk and his younger sister Lee Su-hyun have signed on for another five years with the company, in addition to their original seven-year contract that expires this year.

Akmu, a variant of their original name Akdong Musician, signed with YG Entertainment in 2013 after winning that year’s season of the South Korean music competition show K-pop Star. The pair made a name for themselves with tender pop songs which often incorporate soft pop and folk pop elements, and explore themes relating to youth and growing up.

The pair released their latest single, Happening, in November.

In a statement to South Korean media, Lee Chan-hyuk said the duo decided to renew as they felt supported by the company’s dedication to its artists over the past seven years, with Lee Su-hyun adding that they had never considered leaving the label.
