Hyeme, a former member of K-pop girl group Black Swan, has denied allegations that she failed to repay a loan of tens of thousands of dollars to a male fan.
South Korean outlet Dispatch reported earlier this week that an anonymous person had accused Hyeme of borrowing 50 million won (around US$45,000) and then cutting off contact before paying back the money. The individual claimed he had been a fan of Hyeme and connected with the star over social media.
The man alleged Hyeme used the money to rent a flat where she brought other men she was dating, although he told Dispatch their relationship was not intimate.
Hyeme, born Kim Hye-me (also Kim Hye-mi), and Black Swan’s company DR Music issued a statement saying they were fighting the accusations. The company said most of the money had been gifted to Hyeme by the man, who she says approached her while she was a live-streamer, but admitted the star had borrowed 5 million won from him.
The company said its legal team was taking action against the man for defamation, intimidation, sexual harassment and maliciously spreading false information.
