A film is reworked as a limited streaming series and major stars circle a prestige crime drama in our latest round-up of Korean drama casting items.

1. Made in Korea

Jung Woo-sung is set to lead the new 1970s-set crime drama Made in Korea, and joining him on screen may be Crash Landing on You’s Hyun Bin, who is considering an offer for the co-starring role.

Jung, last seen in the drama Tell Me That You Love Me, will play Jang Geon-young, a tenacious prosecutor with sharp instincts.

The series will mark the drama debut of director Woo Min-ho, who is known for films such as Inside Men and The Man Standing Next, and will be produced by production company Hive Media, which is known for the recent hit film 12.12: The Day among others.

Early reports suggested that Made in Korea would be a spin-off of Woo’s earlier film The Drug King with Song Kang-ho, another drug-themed crime drama set in the 1970s, but Hive Media has refuted those rumours.

Hyun has worked with Woo before, having headlined the film Harbin, which is due to be released this year. Made in Korea will begin shooting this summer.

2. Takryu

Shin Ye-eun (The Glory), SF9 boy band member Rowoon and Park Seo-ham (Semantic Error) are all in talks to star in the forthcoming period drama Takryu.
