After a busy spring, June welcomes a relatively thin crop of new Korean dramas as current shows continue filling the airwaves. Still, the month offers several exciting new titles, including a pair of classroom-based dramas from Netflix, the world’s largest streaming platform.

1. Doctor on the Edge

While most South Korean men enter the barracks for active duty before their thirties, a select few fulfil their mandatory service through alternative regional placements.

This is the case for Do Ji-ui (Lee Jae-wook), a brilliant plastic surgeon whose life takes a sudden turn when he is sent to work as a public health doctor on remote Pyeongdong Island, one of the least desirable postings available. As soon as he arrives, Ji-ui begins to wonder if he will survive his tenure.

Known for hit dramas such as Alchemy of Souls, Lee recently appeared in Dear Hongrang and Last Summer, and will also be seen in the Netflix series Dead-End Job later this year.

With The Legend of Kitchen Soldier currently dominating the charts, the rural drama Doctor on the Edge will once again shine a light on a lesser-seen side of national service. (ENA/Disney+, June 1, 2026)

2. Teach You a Lesson

The first of two education-themed Netflix dramas to launch in June, Teach You a Lesson focuses on the Educational Rights Protection Agency (ERPA), established following a rise in campus violence, with the legal authority to employ physical and psychological force to discipline students.
