We have always been (but especially now) big advocates for cooking at home, although, like everyone, we still like to venture out and treat ourselves. We tend to look for healthy and family-friendly options. We love foods from all over the world, whether it’s Italian, Spanish, Thai or Vietnamese. Right now, it’s as close to going on holiday as we’re going to get.

In Hong Kong, our favourite place to grab traditional Cantonese food has always been West Villa Restaurant (several branches, including 5/F, Lee Garden One, 33 Hysan Avenue, Causeway Bay, tel: 2882 2110). Their barbecue pork is a must try, not to mention their soy chicken. They are definitely family favourites, as even our kids will eat it all up. It’s the best way to get our protein in.
A great place for a grab-and-go meal is Soho Banh Mi (two branches, including 8 Rednaxela Terrace, Mid-Levels, tel: 6380 1216). We miss travelling to Vietnam and this place is as good as it gets. There’s nothing like a crunchy, flavourful banh mi sandwich to curb that craving.

Everything is flavourful at Cobo House.
Everything is flavourful at Cobo House.

If we are feeling like something fun, Cobo House (Shop 602, 6/F, K11 Musea, Victoria Dockside, 18 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2656 3088) is a great option. We started going to the restaurant when they were in South Lane, Western district on Hong Kong Island, and now they’ve moved to Kowloon. Everything is flavourful and their tasting menu really hits the spot. It doesn’t hurt that the views are amazing. It’s a great place to take photos.
