First look inside revamped Sevva – owner Bonnae Gokson talks us through the changes, and what’s stayed the same
- The socialites’ bolt hole high above Central has a new look after 12 years, more airy and with 36 coloured-crystal chandeliers dangling from its domed ceiling
- The menu retains all the regulars’ favourites, along with additions from ex-Nobu chef Chase Kojima, including steamed John Dory and wok-fried Boston lobster

Sevva, the stylish restaurant and bar favoured by Hong Kong’s socialite set, has reopened following a four-month renovation that saw the entire top floor of Landmark Prince’s Building in Central ripped out and put back together again. For such a major exercise, surprisingly little has changed.
The seating area along the hallway, and the lush vertical garden, look familiar, but the colour palette of the couches has been toned down a touch, and mirrors on the ceiling near the windows that look out onto the terrace make the space appear more airy. The big wow factor is in the Harbourside dining area.
The domed ceiling that used to be covered with silk flowers has even more pizazz thanks to a new floral arrangement and 36 gypsy chandeliers, made from 76,600 coloured crystal pieces. Owner Bonnae Gokson chose the colours and created the chandeliers’ colour combinations.
“I’m a person who loves kaleidoscopes,” she says. “When you see a kaleidoscope it’s like wow, wow, wow! I’m very good with colours.”

Landmark Prince’s Building was erected in the 1960s, and leaks from pipes in the kitchen and bar of Sevva earlier this year began affecting its operation. Gokson decided in early June that, after 12 years, it was time to refresh the look of the place.
