Hu Bing sits at a make-up table during London Fashion Week (LFW) surrounded by noise and movement, the usual hectic backstage scenes you’d expect before a show.

As the original Chinese idol, he’s well used to the pampering and preening. Even so, he appears remarkably serene as his hair is blow-dried and his make-up applied.

It’s been three years since the 52-year-old celebrity, actor, model and polymath last visited London. Now he’s back with a team of 12 for a whistle-stop tour of Europe for men’s fashion week season.

Hu’s London itinerary is packed. He currently acts as the international ambassador for the British Fashion Council (BFC) and is attending breakfasts, prize announcements and of course fashion shows. He is even joining a cruise down the River Thames for a spot of live streaming on Chinese social media platform Douyin.

“It’s my first time speaking to the press since I started working with the BFC eight years ago and that’s why I’ve chosen to speak in my mother tongue,” he tells the Post in Mandarin.
