5 movies or shows to stream at home or see in cinemas in Hong Kong this weekend July 27-28
- Shenanigans with superheroes, a sci-fi high-school drama, an adaptation of a cult classic – we have a list of what to watch this weekend
The revival of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the resurrection of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, a two-part anime film that is part sci-fi epic, part teen high-school drama, and streaming choices that include a television remake of a 1980s fantasy adventure movie – we have your weekend sorted.
1. Deadpool & Wolverine
Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine join the Marvel Cinematic Universe with this riotously entertaining superhero team-up, which also marks Deadpool’s third outing (following Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox). It is easily the most fun that the blockbuster franchise has had in years.
Reynolds’ “merc with a mouth” plays nicely opposite Jackman’s taciturn, claw-handed killer as they pummel each other, and myriad assailants, in the most violent manner possible.
Deadpool & Wolverine is in cinemas now.
2. Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction
With today’s release of the second of this two-part anime epic, it is as good a time as any to experience this hybrid of science fiction and high-school teen drama – depicting life in Tokyo during the years that an alien spacecraft hovers over the city – on the big screen.
