There was not much in Nanshan district, in Shenzhen, until the Shenzhen High-Tech Industrial Park was built in 1996 and became home to big Chinese tech companies such as Huawei.
Now, the district is one of the wealthiest places in mainland China, a place of tall skyscrapers, modern residential buildings – and giant shopping malls that feature a wealth of retail and dining choices.
Many of the places to shop in Nanshan are directly linked to subway stations. Taking the metro is the most convenient way to get around the city and fares are very low.

1. Raffles City Shenzhen
Raffles City, a commercial, residential and hotel complex in Singapore, has opened an overseas branch in Shenzhen. It is structured similarly, with retail shops and restaurants on the lower floors and offices on the higher floors.
