Jeffrey Ngai, who recently starred in the TV drama series I Swim, has seen his popularity skyrocket and has established himself as a darling of Hong Kong Cantonese-language entertainment channel ViuTV.
So who is Ngai, and how did he become Hong Kong’s hottest actor-model?
Ngai – who is said to have both Indonesian and Dutch ancestry – grew up loving food and was chubby as a child, just like Mirror member and fellow ViuTV star Keung To.
But he had shed his “puppy fat” by the time secondary school began, and was scouted by a modelling agency at the age of 17. He is often compared to actor Edison Chen for his good looks.
His fans call themselves “coffee beans” because Ngai reportedly drinks black coffee to help him maintain his weight.
