Singer DPR Ian on his first solo album, ‘Moodswings In This Order’: ‘I felt like I had somebody else inside me. I decided to make him come to life’
- The songs on the album by K-pop music video director turned singer DPR Ian riff on alt R&B, with pop, rock, electronica and everything else in between
- Each song leads into one another and walks the listener through DPR Ian’s perspective on love, fear and the emotions of life
The cover of Korean hip-hop artist DPR Ian’s album “Moodswings In This Order” – or “MITO” – features his reflection on a shattered mirror, and it’s through this warped looking glass that the Seoul-based singer gets introspective on this, his first solo record.
DPR stands for Dream Perfect Regime and is the name of an artistic collective. DPR Ian is a member along with DPR Live, DPR Rem and DPR Cream. He’s the second DPR member to release a solo album since they started producing music, music videos and other projects together a few years ago.
The March 12 release of the laid-back, genre-blending “Moodswings In This Order” is far from the first release that DPR Ian – also known as Christian Yu – has been associated with.
The 30-year-old Australian has been integral to the DPR crew’s creative efforts and released his first single, So Beautiful, in October 2020. Before that, he was a member of the K-pop boy band C-Clown from 2012-2015, when he went by the name Rome, a reference to his Korean given name, Ba-rom.
