Virtually all MTR trains get to their destinations on time
I would like to thank Mok Sze-lam for her letter ("MTR must now promise better service", July 14) regarding the MTR Corporation's train service.
For 35 years, the MTR has been steadfast in its commitment to serve Hong Kong passengers with safe, reliable and efficient train services.
Even though we are carrying more passengers and operating more services than ever, our overall train service performance remains stable with our passengers consistently arriving at their destinations on time 99.9 per cent of the time.
Recently, we reported that our on-time performance for the first half of 2014 remained at 99.9 per cent, with the heavy rail network having operated 120 days with no service delays of eight minutes or more.
Nevertheless, in a complex railway system like that of the MTR, delays can still occur from time to time.
We understand such delays cause inconvenience to our passengers and affect their overall assessment of our service.
