What is it about some men – the more broken-hearted they profess to be over a divorce, the quicker they seek solace with someone else.

Forget suffering in solitude and grieving for a bit – many of them dust themselves down and set off dating again. Should we be surprised that after declaring himself distraught after busting up with TV chef Nigella Lawson last June, that her newly ex-husband Charles Saatchi is out on the town again?

Charles clearly has a taste for TV talent and silly names. His latest lady is the telly style queen Trinny Goodall, 49. We can only guess what she sees in the wrinkly 70-year-old multi-millionaire art mogul. They have been spotted having cosy evenings in none other than Mayfair restaurant Scott’s – the very place he was snapped apparently poking his fingers up Nigella’s nose and gripping her warmly by the throat six months ago. This was seemingly the event that prompted Nigella to leave him and file for divorce. It suggests that both he and Trinny have hides like a rhinoceros to hang out somewhere so charged with turbulent memories.

According to Britain’s Daily Mail, the pair appeared “confident and relaxed” in each other's company on Friday night - despite Charles being entangled in a bitter court case with his ex-wife Nigella. Charles and Trinny apparently both puffed away on cigarettes outside.

Given that cigarettes, joints and cocaine are somewhat central to the court case, this would seem to invite comment. Former advertising man Charles rarely makes PR blunders, but this won’t win him any sympathy.

Nigella, Isleworth Crown Court jury has heard, allegedly allowed her teenage children to smoke cigarettes and cannabis too, if her former assistant is to be believed. This is the same assistant who says she never personally saw Nigella using drugs, but she now says that the infamous photographs of the TV cook having her nose prodded and then being throttled by Charles is proof that Nigella was using drugs.
