From K-Pop to kickstarting: how Hong Kong’s Jackson Wang charts a chic path in music and fashion

After more than a decade building a fan base and making his name into a brand in both music and fashion across China, South Korea and the US, Hong Kong-born pop star Jackson Wang believes the key to success is staying true to yourself and your customers.

“It’s just about being who you are,” said Wang, who is best known as a member of K-pop band Got7 but now focuses mainly on his solo music career and business pursuits.

“Don’t try to force it, just be honest to you, to your customers, to your crowd, to your supporters. I think that’s the key.”

Since 2017, Wang has been actively releasing solo material through his own record label, Team Wang. He further expanded his empire by launching a subsidiary lifestyle apparel brand known as Team Wang Design in 2019. And his distinctive style and large fan base have garnered recognition from major brands, such as Cartier, which has chosen Wang as a global ambassador.
