Christopher Harding is a cultural historian of Japan, India and East-West connections, based at the University of Edinburgh. He covers a wide range of topics in his writing, including history, politics, religion and pop culture, for publications including BBC History magazine, The Guardian, The Telegraph, UnHerd and The New York Times. He also writes a free weekly newsletter on Asian history called IlluminAsia. He is a presenter on BBC Radio 3’s arts and ideas programme Free Thinking, and a documentary-maker for Radio 3, Radio 4 and the World Service.
