Hongkongers are not known for placing much importance on recycling, and we often find it hard to resist buying on impulse.

Maybe it's time to give it a try, as the folks at JupYeah (Cantonese for 'taking stuff') are organising pop-up swap events where people can swap old magazines, second-hand clothes or even childhood toys.

JupYeah made its debut with a private event on Boxing Day, and will return on March 4 at Strategic Sounds Workshop in Kwun Tong.

Participants should bring whatever they want to give away or exchange. The wares will be checked to ensure that they are clean and in good condition.

The entrance fee is HK$60 and participants need to bring their own bag. Leftover items from the event will be donated to charity.

As the saying goes, one man's trash is another man's treasure. So come check out the event.
