THE Epson World All Stars table tennis tournament with prize money totalling more than US$107,000 (about HK$823,900), will be held in China and Hong Kong this month.
The event, being organised for the third year, will be held for the first time in Beijing today and tomorrow.
In Hong Kong, the event will feature eight world-ranked table tennis players and will be held on June 16 and 17 at the Southorn Stadium in Wan Chai.
The tournament, launched in 1991, is the territory's premier showcase of world-class table tennis action.
Among the top players taking part in the event will be Ma Wenge of China, the 1991 EPSON World All Stars champion.
Ma, 26, who is from Tianjin, won his most important title in 1985 in China's national championships.
He went on to win the singles' bronze medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Ma, the world No 3 player, won the World Cup twice - in 1989 and 1992.
