High caliber

Breitling has released its first Navitimer with a 100 per cent in-house made chronograph movement: the Caliber 01. The movement was launched last year to celebrate Breitling's 125th anniversary, while this new limited edition is distinguished by its slightly broader diameter and transparent caseback, providing clear views of its high-performance 'motor'. An eagerly anticipated model among devotees of the brand with the winged B, and a collector's item for those fond of mechanical chronographs and aviation, the Navitimer Caliber 01 comes in two limited series of 2,000 (in steel) and 200 (in red gold); each bearing an individual number engraved on the side of the case. Set with more than 35 carats of Graff diamonds, the MasterGraff Tourbillon 47mm is a lavish combination of jewellery and watchmaking. A faceted bezel displays a mosaic of 24 trapeze and baguette diamonds, creating the illusion of a single giant diamond. Graff's signature emerald triangle is set at 12 and seven o'clock and further baguette-cut emeralds circle the dial. A hidden indulgence is the balance weight, bridge and rotor, all of which are decorated with baguette diamonds. Featuring a tourbillion and self-winding movement made exclusively for Graff, the watch has a black crocodile strap and white-gold buckle paved with 30 diamonds. Available in a limited edition of five watches (inquiries: 2735 7666).

Who wants to be a millionaire, when there are billionaires around? This Christmas, Corum pays tribute to its classical Romvlvs collection with the Romvlvs Billionnaire Tourbillon. It has a tourbillon movement crafted in sapphire bridges and plate, and framed with a white-gold case set with 164 diamonds. In classic Romvlvs style, the bezel features Roman Numerals; only this time drawn by 44 baguette diamonds using an invisible diamond-setting technique. The movement has a 90-hour power reserve, and the 45mm cambered case is water-resistant to 30 metres. Only eight pieces have been produced, and we're told that 'C 8/8' (HK$3.26 million) is available in Hong Kong. Only billionaires need apply.
