Taxi passengers can pay their fares with Octopus cards in a pilot programme that started yesterday. The electronic payment company Octopus Cards said 30 participating taxis had been fitted with Octopus card readers that were integrated with the taxi meters and could display fare amounts automatically. The company said it would study the test findings in preparation for an official launch. Passengers can also pay a tip by pressing a button. A webpage at the address www.octopus.com.hk/taxi was set up to collect passengers' feedback.
