As in the old 80s G.I. Joe cartoon public service announcement 'Knowing is half the battle', you might want to think twice before spending your hard earned pocket money on this game.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, the video game for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PSP and NDS, is unfortunately at the other end of the spectrum compared to its big-screen counterpart. The game is really quite bad.

Game play is simple and similar to Contra, where you move along a set linear path and shoot at anything that twitches. The game should take the average player about seven to eight hours to finish, although 30 minutes into this game I was wishing it had finished five minutes ago.

Bad camera angles is the worst crime any game can commit. Gamers have no control over the camera which is constantly repositioning itself senselessly or against the player's favour.

The next game design flaw is the fake check-point system (three for each stage). In most games, reaching a check point will give the gamer some sort of advantage, like coming back to life after dying.

In G.I. Joe, that's not the case. Reaching a check point does nothing and when you die - which will happen often - you will have to start from the first level, which is very frustrating when your mission is almost accomplished.
