Based on Rumiko Takahashi's manga series that won the Shogakukan Manga Award for best shonen (youth) title of 2002, InuYasha - The Final Act is based on the manga's final 20 volumes.

The series chronicles the adventures of Kagome Higurashi, a modern Tokyo high schooler, who falls down an enchanted well that leads to ancient feudal Japan. She meets InuYasha, the half-human, half-dog demon, who discovers Kagome possesses the Jewel of Four Souls, a power-enhancing and wish-granting artefact sought by humans and demons alike.

Originally seeking the jewel to turn himself into a powerful full-fledged demon, InuYasha gives up his quest when he unexpectedly falls in love with Kagome. A horde of demons is also after the jewel. When it shatters into thousands of pieces, InuYasha and Kagome must recover the fragments. Even a small shard of the jewel can greatly increase the power of any demon, so the pair must prevent them from falling into the wrong hands.

The original cast and crew reunite to continue this saga, with Kappei Yamaguchi reprising his role as InuYasha, Satsuki Yukino is back as Kagome Higurashi and Yasunao Aoki directs. Keep an eye out for the show on Animax this autumn.
