Edison Chen Koon-hei, the singer and actor at the centre of last year's celebrity sex-photos scandal, will give evidence in Canada next month after refusing to return to Hong Kong to testify, a court heard yesterday.
Senior public prosecutor Hayson Tse Ka-sze told Kowloon City Court that evidence from the star would be heard in the Supreme Court of British Columbia on February 23. The hearing was set down for five days.
Chen's refusal to return to Hong Kong to give evidence has stalled the trial of computer technician Sze Ho-chun for his alleged link to the distribution of pictures on the internet of the star performing sex acts with various starlets.
Sze has pleaded not guilty to three counts of obtaining access to a computer with a view to making a dishonest gain.
The case was originally scheduled to be heard in October last year.
A prosecution request to obtain evidence from outside Hong Kong had been opposed by the defence.
