Jiangxi Copper, the mainland's largest integrated producer of the metal, said third-quarter profit fell 26.9 per cent, mainly because of investment losses.

The Guixi, Jiangxi province-based company that produces copper, gold and silver reported a net profit of 919.5 million yuan (HK$1.04 billion) for the three months to September, based on mainland accounting standards, compared with a profit of 1.25 billion yuan a year earlier.

Sales jumped 30.7 per cent to 14.71 billion yuan, driven mainly by higher output after the company completed its 300,000 tonnes per year Guixi smelting capacity expansion.
