New models roll in for HK show

Subaru will launch its latest Impreza, Lotus will present its Europa S-01 and Exige 240, and Citroen will unveil its Grand C4 Picasso Exclusive seven-seater at Motor Show Hong Kong 2007 on December 1 and 2, says Gloria Lam, of the inaugural event's organiser, AGI (Asia). The 30,000 sq ft show at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre offers 'exciting displays and never-before-seen vehicles guaranteed to give you the excitement you expect from the unique exhibition', the event's blurb says. 'Come and feel the heartbeat.'

The show boasts a 1962 Hong Qi among the Collectors Car Club of Hong Kong's six pre-war and nine 1950s-1970s displays.

Motor Show Hong Kong 2007 will also feature a 'sizzling Formula 1 racing car', next to which driver March Lee will hold an autograph session at 1pm next Saturday, and eco-friendly cars built by Hong Kong Custom. Admission is HK$30.

Porsche makes its marque in China

Porsche has a terrific lineup at the Guangzhou Motor Show (right), which ends on Monday. The marque is showing its 4.8-litre, direct fuel injection Cayenne CTS, an expressway and off-road beast that promises 405 brake horsepower at 6,500rpm. Prices have yet to be announced, but it should wow across the border in the model's new colour options, GTS Red or Nordic Gold Metallic. Porsche is also showing the 2.98-million yuan 911 GT2 for the first time on the mainland, which promises a 100km/h sprint in 3.7 seconds. There's also an all-black 295bhp Cayman S (alias Porsche Design Edition 1) with a production run of 777 units at 998,000 yuan each. The marque has made more than 4,000 deliveries on the mainland this year, says Porsche China - Jebsen & Co (China) Motors managing director Helmut Broeker.
