Chinese fund manager in bizarre sex lawsuit

A Chinese hedge fund manager forced a staff member to take female hormone tablets to limit his aggressive trading behaviour, a lawsuit filed in the Supreme Court in Manhattan alleges.

Andrew Tong, 37, is suing SAC Capital Advisers and his former boss and confidant Ping Jiang, 41, claiming the tablets caused him physical and emotional distress and even saw him wearing women's clothes.

Mr Tong claims he was ordered to take the pills to calm his aggressive instincts and become a more effeminate, 'detail oriented' trader.

Financial news website CNBC reported that Mr Tong, in a sexual harassment lawsuit, claimed the pair embarked on a brief sexual relationship during their spell of working together from August 2005 until April 10 last year. The lawsuit, filed on Wednesday with the bizarre details first revealed by television station CNBC, has caused a sensation on both sides of the Atlantic.

SAC is one of the biggest funds in the world and Ping Jiang one of the more prominent figures in the highly secretive industry. The idea that traders would take female hormone pills to improve performance is also at odds with a world frequently portrayed as being overtly macho and aggressive.

A Supreme Court judge sealed the lawsuit, saying the salacious details of the claim were not in the public's interest. But CNBC and the New York Post have detailed parts of the claim.
