Sudden fame for Net's 'Little Fatty'

Before Qian Zhijun becam famous as Xiao Pang ('Little Fatty'), he was just a regular Shanghai high school student with a pet tortoise. But since 2002, his chubby face has been superimposed on countless Hollywood posters and photographs, turning him into a cyberspace phenomenon and an accidental celebrity.

What has life been like for you?

Before, I liked watching movies, playing online games and enjoying time with my pet tortoise. Only my family and classmates called me Xiao Pang. I have had little spare time since my profile became more public on the internet. Most of my time is spent in different cities taking part in TV shows. I will make my real debut in the big-cast production, Three Kingdoms - Resurrection of the Dragon, which stars Andy Lau and Sammo Hung.

When and how did you become famous on the internet?

Actually, I don't really have much of an idea about this. I went to an internet cafe one day in 2003 to play online games and the owner asked me if I was Xiao Pang. I was shocked when he showed me a series of images of my head on the body of various famous people, such as Jackie Chan, Russell Crowe and the Mona Lisa.

The original picture was taken by a teacher during class when I was being a bit absent-minded. The teacher posed the picture on a Web forum. From then on, I found more composite pictures of my face and suddenly I was famous.
