Those who expected Yohangza Theatre Company's A Midsummer Night's Dream to be a mere adaptation of Shakespeare's comedy were in for a big surprise. Director Yang Jung-ung has injected plenty of slapstick humour and traditional Korean theatre aesthetics.

As in the original, the story follows the adventures of four young lovers. Hermia, who has been forced by her father to marry Demetrius, decides to elope with true love Lysander. She confides in her best friend Helena, who is infatuated with Demetrius, who, in turn, loves Hermia. Their relationships get even more complicated when they fall under the spell of mischievous forest fairies.
