Chauffeur and boss killed as car crashes into truck
An elderly woman and her chauffeur died after their car ploughed into the back of a stationary truck in Kwun Tong yesterday.
The crash happened minutes after the truck broke down in the outer lane of the Mong Kok-bound Kwun Tong Bypass outside the Kowloon Flour Mills Building at about 2.40pm.
Police said the driver had switched on hazard lights to alert other drivers and got out to wait for a tow truck.
'The driver had been standing behind the truck, but ran along the central divider when he saw a Toyota car travelling between the middle and fast lanes heading towards his vehicle,' a police investigator said.
'Initial investigation showed that the car crashed straight into the back of the truck without trying to swerve.'
Police found no tyre marks to indicate the driver had braked.
