Diane von Furstenberg has been appointed president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). The 59-year-old was chosen over Joseph Abboud and will succeed Stan Herman, who steps down in October after 16 years. Von Furstenberg (right) received a CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005.
