What? Expect lots of surprises on entering this establishment in the Danish capital. None of the 61 rooms is like any other.Twenty-one artists from Europe, Asia, Australia and the United States were recently given carte blanche to decorate the interior, including the lobby, stairs and lifts. The results are astonishing.

What's in the name? Previously the run-down Park Hotel, the property earned its new name when it was chosen to accommodate motoring journalists invited to the launch of Volkswagen's Fox car. Despite the commission, no trace of the German company is apparent, even though it paid for the makeover.

What are the rooms like? Two Swans Fertility Shrine (bottom right; room 214) promises a psychedelic trip; Tokidoki World (room 204) is favoured by Japanese manga lovers; while Heidi and other denizens of the Swiss Alps would feel right at home in room 409. The sultry red Clubs - The Secret Palace (far right; room 309) is the antithesis of Monday (room 317), with its blinding white decor.

Who stays here? The hotel is run by a youthful staff (the average age is about 25) and attracts anyone who feels young and hip at heart.

What's on the menu? The restaurant, Fox Kitchen and Bar, prepares meals using organic products and concocts cocktails specifically for each dish. Don't miss the excellent 'breakfast in a glass'.

Any other perks? Each room has a flat-screen TV and internet connection. DJ nights take place in the lobby every Friday and the roof terrace is a favourite summer hang-out. Guests can pick up customised minibar bags at reception: movie bags contain popcorn and soft drinks; hangover bags provide painkillers, water and sandwiches; and lovers bags contain champagne, chocolate, condoms and the mysterious 'kinky chemist' package.
