Updated at 6.13pm: A Swiss-German site supervisor for the Lantau cable car project died on Friday after falling from a tower at the Ngong Ping station site.

The 38-year-old man lost his footing on a working platform at the 30-metre-tall tower at 9.30am. While his safety belt kept him dangling at the top of a high tower, he received serious head injuries, local radio reported.

A Government Flying Service helicopter recovered the man and took him to Eastern District Hospital. He was later confirmed dead.
