PROCTER & Gamble is setting up three joint ventures in China, showing its confidence in the country.

The US cleaning products giant, which went into China in 1988, will establish two joint ventures to make laundry and cleaning products and one to make personal hygiene products.

P & G said the first two ventures were signed with Hutchison Whampoa, its partner in other China businesses, Beijing No 2 Daily Use Chemical Factory and Chengdu (Sichuan) Synthetic Detergent Factory.

Under the agreements, the ventures will take over the laundry product facilities of the two factories and the laundry brands of the two Chinese partners.
