A new fairy story has been released in Hong Kong by Walt Disney as the cornerstone of Disney Fairies, a new franchise from the entertainment giant.
Fairy Dust and the Quest for the Egg, by Newbery Honour-winning author Gail Carson Levine, is written for girls aged between six and 10.
Inspired by JM Barrie's Peter Pan, the book introduces a new group of fairies, each with a personality that will appeal to young girls.
Prilla, the main character, is born when a baby Clumsy (human) laughs for the first time. The laugh flies across the sea until it reaches Neverland and turns into a new fairy.
Prilla is so odd that the other fairies don't know what to make of her. They cannot tell what type of fairy she is. She shakes hands when she meets others and says: 'Pleased to meet you' - not very fairy-like at all. In fact, Prilla acts more like a Clumsy than a fairy.
All fairies in Neverland have a special talent. Terence makes magic dust. Tinker Bell is good at fixing pots and pans.
