James 'Jimbo' Dawson is making a comeback after taking a one-year break recovering from his latest injury in what is one of the most colourful careers in motorsport.

A long-time Hong Kong resident, Dawson has been racing for 11 years, performed stunts for kung-fu superstar Jackie Chan and his celebrity status has made him the 'face' of Wanch Motorcycles, a Guangdong province-based Chinese bike company, who uses his image to help sell up to 100,000 bikes a year.

He's also team manager and team member of the Wanch Racing Team, who have top local racer Nick Winthrope in their stable.

On the track Dawson has built a large following for his bravery and determination. He might have broken 36 bones in his body, but the 33-year-old just keeps coming back for more and his comeback began last month in the first round of the China Superbike Championships, where he was competing in the 600 supersport class.

His limbs are held together by more stainless steel than your average kitchenware and every time Dawson goes through a metal detector, the 'Bionic Man' sets off the alarm.

Dawson is certainly a celebrity in Hong Kong and his character is as colourful as his blond-tinted hair and body tattoos. He is one of the true heroes of the local racing community.

'Maybe I got more stainless steel in my body than the space shuttle,' said the Briton. 'I've got a bit of titanium in my hands and my wrists. Every time I go through a metal detector, it goes off, especially my knee.'
