ANYTIME

Anytime, which provides technology to help companies deliver video on demand via computers and cable television, has appointed Craig Zimbulis as president and chief operating officer.

Before joining the Singapore-based company, Mr Zimbulis was chief operating officer at Virgin (Asia) Management, where he oversaw the development of Virgin's Asia-Pacific business.

MAPINFO

MapInfo, a provider of location intelligence software, has appointed Gavin Lennox as vice-president and general manager of Asia-Pacific operations.

Before joining the Asia-Pacific team, Mr Lennox spent more than two years as MapInfo's global group vice-president of sales and marketing.

Based in Sydney, he will report directly to Michael Hickey, chief operating officer. Mr Lennox will be responsible for MapInfo's Asia-Pacific operations, which includes Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, North Asia and Japan.

The Asia-Pacific executive team reporting to  Mr Lennox now consists of Brian Cartwright, director of operations; David Ower, director of sales; Wal Mayr, director of products; Simon Walker, director of marketing; and Jonathan Wright, director of finance.

Mr Lennox has about 20 years of communications and technology experience.

He was managing director at Doubleclick International and director of e-business at Lotus Development.

ARROW

Arrow Asia Pac has made two significant executive appointments.

Richard Huxley, Arrow's present vice-president of alliances, has been promoted to vice-president of supplier marketing management, effective from January 1. With Mr Huxley's promotion, Chris Breslin,  vice-president of supplier marketing management, will complete his three-year stint with Arrow Asia Pac and return to the North American office next year.

During his remaining months in Asia, he will act as a mentor to Mr Huxley, ensuring a smooth transition in all areas of supplier marketing and inventory management.

On November 1, Nat Cheang will become vice-president of alliances in Asia-Pacific.

Mr Cheang joins the company from Cisco Systems, where he was head of logistic operations for Asia-Pacific.

He has more than 20 years of experience in purchasing, operations and business management, including 15 years with Lucent Technologies in Singapore.

OSDL

The Open Source Development Labs (OSDL), a global consortium of technology companies dedicated to accelerating the adoption of Linux, has appointed Thomas Hanrahan as the group's new director of Linux engineering.

Meanwhile, OSDL Lab director Timothy Witham has been promoted to chief technology officer.

Mr Hanrahan, with 30 years of software development experience, joins OSDL from IBM's Linux Technology Centre in Oregon, where he served as senior program manager in charge of software development and testing.

There he oversaw the work of many of IBM's leading Linux kernel developers and sub-maintainers.

At OSDL, Mr Hanrahan will manage  the Lab's engineering, testing and technical professionals worldwide.

Mr Witham, OSDL's founding director, has been named to a new position as chief technology officer, where he will be responsible for guiding the Lab's Linux development strategy and will serve as the lead on working with the Linux development community.
