This year's Hong Kong International Film Festival showcases a series of avant-garde features and short films from around the world. 'Watching avant-garde films is an experience with sound and vision, and image itself is a non-verbal language,' says Jacob Wong, programmer of the HKIFF.
The two highlights of the avant-garde section are tributes to Stan Brakhage and Peter Kubelka. Brakhage, who died last year, was famous for his images. Kubelka is best known for his use of sound and editing.
Thanks to the Hong Kong International Film Festival, we are giving away 10 pairs of tickets to Stan Brakhage Programme One, which takes place on April 8 at the Hong Kong City Hall Theatre. Send us an e-mail to yp@scmp.com, together with your name, contact number and postal address. First 10 e-mails will win.
