Product: Hewlett-Packard PSC 2510 Photosmart Price: Available next month Pros: Wireless and multiple functions Cons: Accessories such as printer cartridges and special paper are still costly
If you have a wireless local area network set up at home or in your home office, the new Hewlett-Packard PSC 2510 Photosmart is a must-have. It is the first wireless multi-function printer-scanner-copier and fax machine.
The new PSC 2510 has built-in 802.11b wireless and wired Ethernet-embedded home networking capabilities and can be connected to five home computers at the same time.
The 2510 also takes memory cards, including Compact Flash, Smart Media, Secure Digital, Memory Stick, xD Picture Card and Multimedia Card, so you can print or e-mail photos directly from the device. The 2510 takes HP's special photo paper and has six-ink colour printing capability of up to 4,800 dots per inch.
A cool function called 'video action print' on the 2510's control panel allows you to print a montage of frames from digital video clips from your flash card. A 2.5-inch liduid crystal display screen on the panel allows you to view images and make small changes before printing.
