Cheung's debut concert a hit

FOR Julian Cheung Chi-lam it was certainly a night to remember. The occasion was, of course, his very own debut mini-concert which took place on Monday at the Academic Community Hall.

But no concert for Cheung would have been complete without his good friend and singing partner, Maple Hui Chow-yee, who also joined him on stage to perform one of her songs and a duet, ''Modern Love Story'', with Cheung.

Karen Tong Bo-yee also joined Cheung for another duet while K.C. Lee was also present to perform his ''Neverending Love''.

The ''Julian Cheung Thinking of You Specially'' concert was special for Cheung not only because it was his first concert, but also because it was to celebrate his birthday early and to launch his fan club.

Pop group Grasshopper made a surprise appearance to join Cheung on stage to cut the giant birthday cake that his friends at Commercial Radio presented him.

Besides the 1,000 fans who were there to give Chueng moral support, his showbiz friends such as Joyce Lee Loke-cia, Karen Mok Man-wai, Annie Yee, Anita Yuen Wing-yee, Kwan Po-wai and Choi Hing-lun could also be seen among the audience enjoying themselves.
