Members of the Article 23 Concern Group on Friday said they were disappointed with the Hong Kong Government's handling of the proposed anti-subversion law and called on the public to join a protest rally to be held on July 1.

The protest against the pending national security law is being organised by the Civil Human Rights Front on the sixth anniversary of Hong Kong's handover to the mainland.

A number of other organisations and public figures - such as Hong Kong's Catholic Church head Bishop Joseph Zen Ze-kiun - have also urged people to join the rally.

Legislator Audrey Eu Yuet-mee, who is also a member of the Article 23 Concern Group, said there was not sufficient consultation from the Government.

'The Government has not listened to people's opinion, and it has adopted uncivilised methods? so taking to the street would be the only peaceful way to voice out our opinions,'' Ms Eu said.
