HAVING TO DASH THROUGH POURING RAIN TO GET into the recent Marc Jacobs shop opening party (although it was actually held at new Central restaurant Zenses) gave it instant street cred. Or maybe it was simply the fact that it was a G Spot Production (started by Jackson Ng, Gordon Lam and new club owner/DJ and all-round party boy Gilbert Yeung Kei-lung) affair.
The fashion industry's most sought-after individuals were there - such as Hilary Tsui Ho-ying, Shower magazine publisher and best friend to It-girl Josie Ho Chiu-yee, who turned up with a gaggle of friends including singer Alex To Tak-wai, model Kathy Chow and Ng's wife, Elvina Kong Yan-yin.
Before midnight struck, partygoers posed and people watched while models wove their way through the throng to show off Jacobs' autumn/winter collection. Well after the midnight hour, party-happy Hong Kong Jockey Club chairman Ronald Arculli, accompanied by Austrian wife Johanna, stepdaughters Jeanine (a fashion designer) and Claire Hsu (who founded the Asia Art Archives), and a small entourage of close friends, arrived from a late dinner.
