Manhunt after woman, 78, attacked and robbed

Police in Mongkok are hunting a Vietnamese man who bashed the head of a 78-year-old woman and stole her purse containing $6,000 in Pine Street, Tai Kok Tsui.

The man, who was identified by a witness, also snatched the woman's gold necklace before fleeing. The attack happened on the third-floor landing in the woman's apartment block as she returned home at 11am yesterday. She was treated and later released from Kwong Wah Hospital.
