Roswell

For those of you who are tuning in to this series because there is a dearth of programmes on other channels (if you have Cable, The Matrix is on HBO - again - at 6.45pm), here is a quick recap of the Roswell story so far. The injured Max (Jason Behr) is admitted to hospital. Liz (Shiri Appleby), who knows Max is an human-alien hybrid, pulls out all the stops to cover up his real identity. After a nurse takes a blood sample off Max, for instance, Liz and her school mates Michael (Brendan Fehr) and Isabel (Katherine Heigl, above with Fehr far right), another alien hybrid, try to swap the sample with that of another friend, Alex (Colin Hanks). Alex, who does not know what is going on, is bemused when Isabel uses her powers 'to laser into his skin' to draw the replacement blood sample. Well, this teen-friendly sci-fi drama series was a hit on US television last year so someone must find this show entertaining.
The Sopranos

Life is moving along nicely in the fast lane as mob boss Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini) now runs the richest and most exclusive poker den in New Jersey. Tonight, Tony's high school friend David Scatino (Robert Patrick) joins this exclusive gathering that includes Frank Sinatra Jnr (playing himself), despite Tony's warnings that the stakes are too high. When David, a compulsive gambler, does not listen, Tony has to take matters into his own hands, literally.
