Artist: Belle & Sebastian Album: TigerMilk (Jeepster Records) You may be forgiven for asking the question 'Belle and who?' In fact, if you talk to most people about the British music scene, the name would not often crop up.
Though far from reaching the commercial success of The Stereophonics and Oasis, other albums from this Scottish six- piece include If You're Feeling Sinister and the much-acclaimed The Boy With The Arab Strap.
If you have not heard any of their material, TigerMilk can be best described as a roughly tuned mixture of Travis and The Beatles. In a word, mellow.
From the beginning of this album to the very end, it con tains original melodies and unique ways of expressing them, such as the final song, Electronic.
Belle & Sebastian have recently won a British award for 'Best Newcomers', beating off pop acts such as Steps.
The album includes songs from 1995 which the band themselves regard as the 'best songs they have ever written'. Tunes to look out for on the album include Expectations, She's Losing it and Mary Jo, although it is hard to pick out a bad song.
