PRINCE CHARLES was planning a quiet day today to give him time to recover from 50th birthday celebrations spent partying with guests believed to have included Hong Kong socialite David Tang.
The man behind the Shanghai Tang store in Pedder Street was among those invited to a celebration held last night at the prince's home, Highgrove, in Gloucestershire.
Mr Tang was a close friend of Princess Diana and attended her funeral in London last year but was invited to the party by the prince's companion, Camilla Parker Bowles.
The names of the 250 guests have been a matter of heavy speculation in the British press, which had said Mr Tang was among those invited to the birthday bash.
'It's not an official party at all. It's a private party and we are not revealing any information, we can't really comment who his close friends are,' the spokesman said.
But crowds of paparazzi crowded at the entrance to the prince's six-bedroom country house to see who had been invited.
The mostly British guests included many members of the aristocracy including the dukes of Westminster, Devonshire, Marlborough and Northumberland as well as a sprinkling of show business celebrities.
