Champagne lovers should book their tables for the November 14 dinner at the 27 Restaurant at the Park Lane Hotel. Prince Alain de Polignac of the House of Pommery is hosting a meal which will feature four champagnes. The cost is $399 plus 10 per cent; call 2839-3327.

White truffle season is here again and the expensive delicacies are featured until November 28 at Grissini in the Grand Hyatt. Chef Angelo Sabatelli has created a special menu, including such dishes as morel risotto with sweetbreads and truffles, and beef tenderloin with white truffle and celery puree. Man Wah restaurant at the Mandarin Hotel is featuring classical Shanghainese dishes served with wines from Huadong Winery from November 9-22. The hotel is bringing over Sha Chee-hwa, chef for the Shanghainese kitchens at the Mission Hills Golf Club near Shenzhen.

Guests who order the menu for eight to 10 will receive a bottle of Huadong chardonnay, and groups ordering the menu for 12 will receive a bottle of Courvoisier XO. Call 2825-4025.

Imasa at The Peninsula has started a sushi buffet on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings. The all-you-can-eat buffet features sushi, hand rolls, soups and desserts for $280 ($140 for children) plus 10 per cent. Parties of over six receive a bottle of Peninsula wine. Call 2315-3175.

The Excelsior hotel has flown in Claudio Rossi to be guest chef at Cammino restaurant until November 14. Mr Rossi is the proprietor of Albergo Ristorante da Pio in Castelveccana. He will be cooking signature dishes including roast duck breast in Mormoreto red wine sauce, sweet and sour spinach souffle with raisins and pinenuts and carpaccio of seabass with eggplant puree.
