Security officers at Chek Lap Kok to be unarmed

Although security officers at Chek Lap Kok will undertake some tasks carried out by police at Kai Tak, they will be unarmed, the authority said.

In addition to passenger and baggage screening, the officers will be responsible for perimeter security, a job currently done by police.

A spokesman said some details needed to be worked out in connection with the operations of the new security company.
