Jailed former Carrian Group boss George Tan Soon-gin appeared in the District Court yesterday to see the final chapter of his 13-year legal saga close.
Judge Clare Beeson was told the Crown's office would let the eight bribery charges against Tan, 62, remain on file. The judge agreed.
Prosecutor Tony Schapel said the Crown would not take further action against Tan without 'leave of the District Court or the Attorney-General'.
Yesterday's charges involved bribes which were allegedly paid to two executives of the German bank WestLB and to an executive director of Barclays Asia.
The bribes involved $5.7 million in cash and 668,000 Carrian shares.
The former property empire boss was at the centre of the biggest fraud case ever in Hong Kong.
